  • Welcome

Emily Frye is an interaction designer. Her experiences as an MFA student at West Virginia University have allowed her to persue her passion for design while solving complex problems. Her designer tool kit consists of tangible and intangible tools. She loves a fresh whiteboard, a set of dry-erase markers, and sticky notes. The tool she uses most comes from the field of sociology. Ethnography enables her to uncover appropriate and engaging solutions.

Her thesis work takes on poverty and obesity in West Virginia. She designed a program for federally funded clinics in West Virginia that helps doctors prescribe physical activity. The project titled BeneFIT, incorporates James Prochaska's, Transtheoretical Model (TTM), a six-stage program for making personal change. At this time, BeneFIT is being trialed in two West Virginia clinics.
